Sapwood

Wood located between the bark and heartwood, generally lighter in color than the latter and consisting of active cellular elements (in the living tree). Same as alburnum.

Stain

Subterranean termite

Termites whose colonies are often below the ground surface.

Surface or no-pressure treatment

Treatment which does not use outside pressure to force the penetration of preservative into the wood.
