Life cycle
The tick’s life cycle goes through four stages:
- Egg → Larva → Nymph → Adult
Factors such as temperature, humidity, and light directly influence the speed of development. Therefore, warmer seasons favor their reproduction.
Where do ticks live?
Ticks are present in virtually all regions of the planet. Some species prefer lawns, fields, forest edges, and woodlands, where they wait for contact with animals or people.
Others, such as dog ticks, are easily found in places where pets usually play and rest, such as lawns, kennels, and backyards.
Health risks
In addition to intense itching and allergic reactions, ticks are vectors of diseases such as:
- Spotted fever (tick fever);
- Lyme disease;
- Babesiosis;
- Ehrlichiosis.
