Bed bug belong to the Cimicidae family.
Bed bugs are extremely efficient in finding and extracting blood from their hosts, often attacking body areas that remain exposed during sleep, such as the face, neck, shoulders, arms, and legs.
Signs of infestation of bed bugs are small blood spots with a rusty color in pillowcases, sheets, mattresses and box springs.
They inhabit the environment surrounding their food sources, in shelters built in dry places, or that have little or no light and minimal air flow, such as cracks and crevices in walls, inside cabinets and other furniture, baskets of clothes, in mattresses, pillows, paintings, carpets, bed frames, power outlets, and suitcases.
Dispersion begins when the bugs hitchhike in luggage, clothing, transportation means such as ships, aircraft, trains, buses, and cars.
They do not transmit diseases to humans. Some people are allergic to their bites, this is because a little saliva is released at the moment the bug pierces the skin causing itching and swelling in area.
